Saddles

Pete wanted a saddle that he could use for both cutting and reined cow horse that was well made but priced right. He and Dave Hammond at Stray Dog Saddles worked together and came up with this saddle. In over 40 years of riding horses Pete has never had a saddle that fit him and the horse this well.

It is beautifully tooled, has adjustable latigos on both sides of the front cinch so you can adjust it without loosening the cinch. The hobble holder (works great to hang your skid boots, too) and the rear billets are a salute to the great stock horse traditions of the West Coast. You will see some of the great old saddles made this way. Pete also added saddle strings and a hoof pick holder.

Marilyn wanted a saddle that rode like a Van Core down the fence but was a little more modern for the reining. This saddle is great for boxing and going down the fence as well as the reining. Dave and Pete thought the seat was too padded but EVERY woman who has tried this saddle LOVES IT! They fight over who gets to ride it! It has beautiful tooling and beautiful silver. We usually change the silver on new saddles but this one was great right out of the box. It also has adjustable latigos on both sides making it easy to use on different horses or just to make sure your cinch is centered properly. You can get this saddle with saddle strings or regular conchos. Different tooling patterns are available and you can take some of the seat padding out if you want to. We put on different stirrups - everyone has their own personal preference.
