Our brand is meant to bring Oasis Ranch to mind and at the same time pay tribute to two of the most famous brands in performance horse history. While brands were first developed on the open ranges to show ownership of livestock, many ranches now use brands to identify their horses in the show pen. The best brands are simple and easy to read and look good. The two ranches that Pete wanted to emulate in many ways were the Ward Ranch and the Four Sixes Ranch. And we feel that they both have excellent brands. Keeping that in mind, the use of the initials pb as our brand pays homage to Greg Ward, the Ward Ranch and their famous GW brand. Using the open ended pb is a salute to the open ended 6666 of the Four Sixes Ranch. We don't put our brand on every horse that comes through our barn. The breeding stallions that we purchase are usually already branded. Many of the broodmares that we purchase are already branded, and we don't like the look of several different brands on the same horse. Our brand will be on their offspring. We also brand horses that we purchase for resale, most of which are by stallions standing at Oasis Ranch. The location of our brand..... It is very simple. If the pb is on the left hip, it means we bred the horse. If it is on the right hip, it means we bought the horse.
